For hunts that do not include food or lodging, what are my options? Hunts that do not include food or lodging are set that way because these hunts take place close enough to towns/cities with accommodation options (motels/hotels/airbnbs/restaurants/grocery stores) available. These hunts are perfect for hunters not looking for the full tent camp experience. Please feel free to contact me for a list of accommodations available for these hunts.
If I have to cancel my hunt, can I get a refund on my deposit? Deposits on cow hunts are nonrefundable and nontransferable. $1,000 of the deposit on bull or buck hunts is nonrefundable and nontransferable. The remainder of the deposit is transferable to a hunt the following year, but only if I am able to resell the hunt for that current year. If I am unable to resell the hunt, the full deposit is nonrefundable and nontransferable.
What is the Hunter ID number on your contract? The Hunter ID number is a specific number (usually 6-7 digits) that is assigned to you when you purchase a hunting license, or set up an account, with ODFW. This number never changes and is not the same as your hunting license number. To set up your account or purchase a license please visit: MYODFW.com.
What are license and tag fees for nonresidents in Oregon? Nonresident license- $172.00 Hunter Drawn Tags – (Deer – $443.50) (Elk – $588.00) Outfitter Drawn Outfitter tags – (Deer – $575.00) (Elk – $848.00)
Do you have to wear orange in Oregon? No, orange is not required.
What yardages should I plan to shoot? We try our best to keep most of our shots in the 300-400 yard range, with the occasional shot out to 500 only for hunters that have proven comfortable to that distance.
If I wound/cripple an animal, and we do not recover it, can I shoot another one? No. If you draw blood, you own it. We will do everything in our power to cover that animal, but you may not shoot another one.
What airport is the best option should I choose to fly in for my hunt? Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) is the closest option. If you are unable to find a flight into Redmond, look at Boise Airport (BOI) or Portland International Airport (PDX).
Do we use horses? Not unless we absolutely have to.
Are you also a fishing guide? No. I am strictly a hunting guide.
Do you have a location where I can check the zero of my rifle? Yes, and if you show up with enough time before your hunt, myself or one of my guides will go with you to make sure you are all dialed in before your hunt begins.
Do we allow clients to drink alcohol? We don’t mind if clients have the occasional beer/drink during the evening, after that days’ hunt is over, but this is not the place to come to party. If you become fully intoxicated or belligerent, you will be asked to leave and you will not get a refund on your hunt. Don’t waste my time, I won’t waste yours.
Do I need to be in good physical shape for these hunts? Simple answer, yes. You will have a much better experience as well as higher success rate if you are able to get around in the hills. But that being said, this is your hunt. We go at the rate that our clients can go.
What kind of terrain should I expect? Most of the units we hunt range in terrain from cliff hanger steep, to rolling hills, to flat topped forest. Again, we will only do what our clients can do, so we won’t take somebody suited for flat ground and put them on a cliff hanger steep hillside.
Can I harvest two elk in the same year? Technically Yes and No. In some of the units we hunt, the ODF&W hunting season runs from August 1st – March 31st. You may not harvest two elk in the same time span of August 1st – March 31st, but you can technically harvest two elk in the same calendar year, using the same hunting license. The ODF&W hunting license is valid for the full calendar year, so you could harvest a cow from January 1st – March 31st, and then turn around and harvest another cow (or bull during the bull season) from August 1st – December 31st, all on the same hunting license.
